आखिर Kalpana Chawla के साथ क्या हुआ था | The Sad Story of Kalpana Chawla First Indian Woman In Space Kalpana Chawla was an American astronaut and the first woman of Indian origin to go to space.She first flew on Space Shuttle Columbia in 1997 as a mission specialist and primary robotic arm operator. In 2003, Chawla was one of the seven crew members who died in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster when the craft disintegrated during its re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere.Chawla was posthumously awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor and several streets, universities and institutions have been named in her honor Kalpana Chawla was born in India. As a child she loved drawing pictures of airplanes & see the stars at night. At the age of 26 her dream came true and she began working at NASA in 1988. In 2000, Kalpana Chawla was selected for conducting experiments in space with other 6 crew members. Her space shuttle STS-107 was launched on Jan 16, 2003. But during the take off a piece of foam insulation broke off & damaged the shuttle.
